I had a non-profit board meeting this morning; not SFSFC, but ARESFFT, the parent of the Science Fiction & Fantasy Translation Awards. The corporate board has to meet at least once a year, and time was running out for this year. (We could have gotten around it by a unanimous-consent resolution, but there were actually a few things we needed to discuss.) We coordinated schedules between time zones GMT, GMT-6, and GMT-8 for a 10 AM Pacific Time conference call (hooray for Skype!), and we were done in less than an hour and accomplished everything we set out to do on the agenda. Very efficient.

Although the SF&F Translation Awards won't being our annual fundraising drive until after the first of the year, now is as good a time as ever to point out that, should you have some money you'd like to donate (and, in the USA, take a charitable donations, as ARESFFT is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt non-profit corporation), the SF & F Translation Awards would be happy to accept any donation you'd like to give us. This year, I'm happy to report that thanks to generous donations of services, that only 3% of our donation income was used in administrative overhead costs, those being PayPal fees and postage to mail the Awards. Everything else was used to fund the cash awards and production of award trophies and certificates. All of the people involved with the Awards volunteer their time and effort, and I thank them all.

My contribution is as the corporation's Secretary/Treasurer, mostly trying to stay out of the limelight as I do the Boring Corporate Stuff.
