Mission Scrubbed

Last night, Lisa called and apologetically asked me not to come home this weekend, for two reasons.

1. It's supposed to snow on Saturday, and while not expected on Friday and Sunday, there's enough uncertainty that she's worried about me getting stuck in it. Besides, we wouldn't want to go into Reno for shopping errands if it's snowing.

2. More importantly, we've had a bit of a plumbing problem with the kitchen sink, as a metal fitting broke while Lisa was in the process of removing pipes for the every-year-or-two job of clearing them. Lisa says she can get it fixed over the weekend, but she'll have to unload everything out of the trailer's under-counter storage areas, filling up the living room. Furthermore, we're now down to only water coming from the bathroom.

Having me around would cause her a lot of stress as she spends the weekend doing repairs. I'm not troubled. I reassured her that this was just fine, that I had lots of things to do down here (primarily working up all of BASFA's Hugo Recommendations for final review on Monday), and that I wouldn't mind the extra sleep I'll be getting because I won't be spending twelve hours this weekend driving back and forth to Fernley.

Since I wouldn't need to drive to Fernley this afternoon, I could even take the train to work and skip the commute traffic, which I also don't mind.
