Bay Area ConStruction Programming Schedule Announced
Bay Area ConStruction has published its programming schedule. ConStruction is a conference about organizing science fiction, fantasy, horror, anime, and related conventions with a focus on Northern California and the San Francisco Bay Area. The conference is scheduled for the weekend of July 15-16 and will be held at the Hilton Hotel downtown San Jose, with a "get acquainted" social on the evening of July 14 for which conference membership is not required.
Programming at ConStruction will consist of panel discussions and workshops. Topics include "Disaster-Proofing Your Convention," "Hotel Contracts," "Traffic Flow," "Marketing" and "Planning for Tomorrow and Beyond." Saturday evening, members will play the convention-planning simulation game "If I Ran the Z/o/o/...Con."
ConStruction kicks off at 8 PM on Friday, July 14, when SFSFC, sponsor of the convention, hosts a Dessert Social for Bay Area convention-runners. SFSFC invites anyone with an interest in local convention-running to attend the social event on Friday night. Membership in ConStruction is not required to attend Friday's nights Dessert Social.
Membership in ConStruction is $50 through July 1 and $55 at the door. An optional Networking Brunch on Sunday morning at 10 AM is an extra $15. Hotel rooms at the San Jose Hilton Hotel are $79/night. Make hotel reservations directly through the hotel at (408) 287-2100 (mention "ConStruction" to get the convention rate) or through Hilton’s web site using group/convention code "CNS."
SFSFC was the parent non-profit corporation of ConJosé, the 2002 World Science Fiction Convention, and ConFrancisco, the 1993 Worldcon.
