SMOFCon 2018 Day 3

What with not getting to bed until 4 PM, I didn't wake up until 10 AM, and missed all of the morning programming. Going down to the hotel restaurant, where a Sunday brunch looked attractive, but overpriced, primarily due to the included champagne. Regular breakfast was being served in the lounge, and I managed to get in five minutes before breakfast service ended. I joined a professional SF author attending SMOFCon to talk about care-and-feeding of guests. (I'm not saying who so y'all don't think I'm name-dropping. Those of you attending SMOFCon know who I mean.)

I didn't attend much of today's programming, other than the feedback session at the end, and the final item, which was a game of If I Ran the Zoo Con, 4th edition. Our team managed to thread our way through the scenarios and avoid the worst depredations of Murphy to win the game.

Trying to put together a dinner expedition proved challenging. To my surprise, lots of likely places were all booked up, even on a Sunday evening. By the time I managed to get a reservation at Italian place where we ate a few nights ago, Lisa had faded out and scratched, but a group of four (including me) made the trip. I was driving and thus couldn't walk back. Based on my blood sugar, I should probably have walked to the shopping center and back. I avoided everything but plain water for the rest of the evening hanging around the con suite.

As you'll see by the previous entry, I spent a bunch of the day editing videos and then uploading them. I was very relieved when I got the last of them uploaded. Speaking of relief, I'm relieved that the weather forecast is holding, and it looks like it should be clear driving home on Monday.

It's been an excellent SMOFCon. I had a good time, learned things, and had a lot of productive and entertaining conversations. I'm already looking forward to next year in Albuquerque, although I haven't quite figured out the logistics of making the trip within the constraints of money and available time off.
