Off in the distances, partially obscured by clouds, is the Pah Rah Mountains. There were a few dabs of snow up top yesterday, which is unusual enough, but the storm overnight had dropped new snow on the mountains. I don't recall seeing snow on these mountains in May before. Usually around this time is when we start thinking of getting the swamp cooler running again.
There were chain controls in the Sierra today, and even times when I-80 was closed completely. This change in the weather is apparently going to last for several days and through the weekend, so I've canceled a trip I'd planned this weekend to visit my sister in Sacramento.
