Hugo Voting Cost?

Over on SF Awards Watch, there is a lively discussion of selling a "Hugo Voting Only" membership, and a poll over what people might think the appropriate price for such a membership might be. If you're interested, I'd encourage you to comment over there, not here, as that's the best place for such discussions.

In a different post is a complaint that people who think Hugo voting should be free aren't willing to step up and defend their position. I agree -- I would, as one of the SFAW editors, I reckon -- that this is frustrating, but then, I also agree that participatory direct democracy is harder work than the other types.

Trying to Make the Best of Jet Lag

It would appear that while Lisa and I came the short way home from Japan, our circadian rhythms were shipped the long way around via India and Europe, and are currently somewhere off the coast of Newfoundland trying to work their way westward. This would explain why we woke up around 2 AM today. Sleep proving to be impossible, I went to work at around 6 AM Pacific time, which is unghodly early by my lights. On the brighter side, I'll be able to knock off work similarly early today.
