Home Once More
Despite having been up for more than 22 hours yesterday and getting to bed in the hotel room at the Holiday Inn Express in Reno at about 12:30 AM, I woke up after only a bit more than three hours of sleep, ahead of my alarm clock, and got to work on the bit of stuff I have been doing for Day Jobbe each day. That job wasn't as difficult while I was in Montreal because the deadline on it is about 8 AM Eastern time. In any case, once I finished doing it, I (to my surprise) was not sleepy enough to go back to bed. I did a few other things until the included breakfast opened, and I went downstairs, got a tray, and acquired breakfast as quickly as I could, to minimize exposure to the other people down there who were ignoring COVID restrictions.
After breakfast, I finally wound down sufficiently to go back to bed for a while. Having arranged for a late check-out, I didn't have to worry about the time. My body, however, has a scrambled clock. I did manage to sleep for three 1-hour blocks with a brief wake up in between them. After the third one, I gave up on any further attempts, made a cup of coffee in the in-room coffee maker, took a shower, got dressed, and packed up (without as much rush as I had yesterday). I didn't even use the full two hours of extra check-out time, which looked to be a relief to housekeeping.
I got back home, where Lisa (who has decided to isolate herself in her travel trailer from me for a few days as a precaution) left me a refrigerator full of supplies (including two small pumpkin pies). When she saw I was home, she called me and we talked for a while. I slowly unpacked and restored my computers to their home configuration. I miss the days of the drop-in docking stations, which allowed me to just leave the home configuration alone and simply dock or undock the laptops; however, docking stations appear to be a think of the past, and so I have to re-connect all of the various external cables to get things working again.
Because of the Day Jobbe stuff I was doing during this trip, I have tomorrow off as well — except of course that 60-90 minute part at 4 AM. Well, it balances out in the end, I guess.
Tonight, I should be getting an early night of things, and it seems to me that it should not be difficult to get to sleep. Maybe I should have one of those slices of pumpkin pie first, though....
