Halfway to SMOFCon

As I rather expected, showing up so early (~3 AM) at Reno Airport for my 5:30 AM flight to Denver was somewhat of a waste of time. The United check-in counter didn't open until about 3:30 AM, and the security checkpoint didn't open until about 4 AM. OTOH, it meant that I got through Terrorization relatively quickly. I'm glad I had so much time, because I got so disorganized that I left my tote bag behind. I was still putting my belt and shoes back on when the TSA started calling my name. I hadn't left the area, so I padded over and showed my passport and reclaimed my stuff.

While taking out my computer to put through X-Ray at the checkpoint, I realized that I'd left my personal computer on the desk at home. Fortunately, I'd packed the Day Jobbe computer yesterday when I shut down for the day. Good think I have to do an hour or so of Day Jobbe stuff next Monday. I should be able to access most of what I want (except my video-editing software) from the DJ computer. I deliberately use one browser for the Day Jobbe account and another for my personal Gmail account, so neither crosses each other in the same browser. The work machine doesn't have an SD port (for moving video from the camera), but I can also move files from the video recorder by USB, so it should be okay.

The two-hour flight to Denver was routine and comfortable. I'm glad I was able to get the first-class upgrade, because the flight was completely full, and almost nobody was masking (except the folks across the aisle from me), so any extra separation was good.

When I got to Denver, I got a text message from United telling me that my Air Canada flight was delayed for a couple of hours. Fortunately, because I'm flying first class, I get access to the United Club. There are worse places to be if you have to spend extra time hanging about Denver Airport.

Lisa was following my flight along and called me with good timing, after I'd checked in at the United Club. After updating her on the travel delay and telling her not to worry about my personal computer still being on the desk, I got breakfast from the United Club and settled in for a while. Assuming everything goes more or less as the revised plan calls for, I'll head over to the A concourse (from which the AC flight should depart) in 30 minutes or so for the longer of the two halves of today's trip.

Of course, this means I'll be getting in significantly later than originally planned, but the 747 Airport-to-Downtown bus from YUL Airport runs 24 hours, so it shouldn't be a problem.
