Home Owners
Three days ago (February 15, 2023), we made the final payment on Fernley House. I forgot to post about it at the time due to my overriding concern about Lisa's ankle.

We are now paying on the mortgage on the East Lot (from which I took this photo this morning), of course, but the house proper is fully paid off.
We had long intended to hold a "mortgage-burning party" around this time, with the person who generously loaned us the money to pay for the house as the Guest of Honor; however, then COVID happened, and planning anything requiring trans-Sierra travel this time of year is dicey, even though it happens to be nice today. And then there's Lisa's sprained ankle, which would have thrown a spanner in the works of planning anything.
While there was never any doubt that we were going to be able to pay off the mortgage (I could have tapped my 401(k) had I been laid off, although there would have been penalties and taxes involved), it's still good to have the debt retired.
