The Bicentenial Man and Other Stories

...which is my way of saying that science fiction has been exploring the moral and ethical implications of self-aware robots/AIs for some time now.

Freedom for Robots?

No doubt many people seeing news items like this are thinking, "Wow, nobody has ever thought of anything like this before!"

I'm reminded of the many citations from Ansible about fiction (written or dramatized) of an SF nature whose authors/producers deny that they are SF because "these are stories about things that could really happen!" Makes you wonder what they think science fiction actually is.
