Hurry Up and Wait

I got to PDX pretty early, which is good because my flight to Oakland is seriously delayed, and if I'd taken it, there was a good chance I would not be able to get to BART to get home. The Alaska Airlines agent, Jeannete, offered to put me on a Horizon flight to Seattle and then to a Seattle-Oakland flight that will arrive a short time before my originally-scheduled arrival.

"Let's do it," I told her, and thanked her for the re-route.

I hot-footed it down to the Horizon gates, where my ticket said my flight should already be boarding; however, the equipment hadn't arrived yet. They're currently predicting a twenty-minute delay but it could be less if they get the plane (which I think hear pulling up now) turned quickly. I still have plenty of time for the connection at Seattle, although I may not have time to get anything to eat.

The good customer service by Alaska Airlines is something of an antidote to the bad way my day started with Circuit City -- details tomorrow, I think.

Ah, that is indeed the equipment for my flight that just pulled up to the gate, so I'd better get the computer shut back down.
