Denver by the Numbers
I filled up my van's fuel tank just before leaving for Denver and just before going home last night, and I keep a careful mileage log. Therefore, I have the exact figures on the out-of-pocket fuel cost and use for the trip to Denver and back:
2,956 miles
153 gallons of gas
19.3 miles per gallon
$589 (avg price $3.85/gal, min $3.67, max $4.11)
That doesn't include parking at Denver ($126) or the $1700 in repairs at Wells, only $35 of which was actually attributable to that particular trip -- the repairs were going to be needed sooner or later, although they would have probably been cheaper if the problem had been detected sooner.
